Local people who live and work near the exhibition locations are an integral part of the interpretation of Playland. Artist-led workshops will take place at each venue and the resulting work will be installed alongside Darakchiev’s work, helping to contextualise the film.

Memories and Souvenirs
Sharon Haward ran Memory and Souvenir workshops at Margate Museum. Local people brought their souvenirs, photographs and memories along, to share and have them recorded and photographed. Re-imaging communities
Nicholette Goff ran workshops under the title of Re-imagining Communities. People who grew up and made their lives in and around the harbour area of Folkestone came together on 13 and 20 August at The Brewery Tap to share their stories and memories of this vibrant hub of the town with artist Nicholette Goff. From work on the ferries and in fishing to nights out as mods or rockers, remembering local charcters, celebrations and disasters, people told of life-changing places and experiences and of lessons learned. Writings, photogtaphs and souvenirs of those times are brought together in the exhibition at The Brewery Tap.
